The General Assembly Declares Episcopacy unlawful

Auguft 1639, Setterday. This day the Affemblie, quhilk began at Edinburgh on Mononday the 12 Auguft, clofit the point of Epifcopacie, and declarit it vnlawfull, and contrair to Godis word, to the vnfpeakabill joy of all them that feiris the Lord, and waittis for his falvatioun.

The scene was now set for the Bishops Wars.
