According to China Energy News: Recently, DNV GL, a trade certification body, said that in order to promote the floating photovoltaic industry to further mature, it is proposed to launch standards for floating PV power projects in conjunction with the floating PV industrial organization, JIP. At present, the relevant documents are being actively prepared, which are expected to be completed in the first quarter of next year.
It is understood that the floating PV power generation project is conducive to land saving, less loss in water, power generation improvement and so on. Since 2006, when the world's first floating PV power project was born, the market has been developing very slowly to this day. However, in the past five years, the development of floating PV power plant has gradually accelerated. By the end of 2019, the cumulative installed capacity of floating photovoltaic power plant in the world has reached 3GW.
Toni Weigl, a project manager of BayWa Company, also a member of JIP, pointed out that with the accelerating progress in the scale of floating photovoltaic power generation, it will affect investors' enthusiasm and market development that the industry lack relevant standards. In order to effectively enhance the development maturity of the industry, it is necessary for the industry to establish a unified acceptance criteria.
It is reported that the standards to be introduced this time will make specific provisions for floating photovoltaic power generation projects from five aspects, such as site condition assessment, industry license and possible impact on the environment.
